Express the Inexpressible
People write poetry for different reasons: enjoyment, self-expression, communication. I write poetry because it helps me be honest with myself.
My poet’s journey began in 2008 when I was 20 years old. A mentor told me that honing my descriptive abilities through poetry could help me “interpret the subtle intonations of the heart.”
What does that mean? In short, poetry can help us discover the “song” within us, that special something that makes every person unique. But in order to do that, we have to learn a new language.
For me that language is poetry, the language of the heart.

In the 15 years I’ve been practicing, I’ve also come to enjoy it! One of the things I enjoy most is critiquing others’ poems. It’s something I’m passionate about.
It’s hard for me to see my own poems the same way I see the poems of others. I’m too wrapped up in them.
I did not realize this until I found someone whose perspective has been instrumental in making me the poet I am today.

Let me be that perspective and I promise you will be astounded by the difference it makes in how you see your own poetry.
