And God Said…
I enter the rectangular room filled
with rectangular shelves containing
rectangular books. A little rectangular
world on this giant spinning sphere.
Each book contains hundreds
of rectangular pages. Each row
of words is an elongated rec-
tangle. So many rectangles…
What did God have in mind here?
My rectangular notebook and my
rectangular bed, the rectangular
doors inside my rectangular house.
I’m drowning in my rectangular pool.
I sink deeper as I watch a rectangular sky
blur and disappear. On the Other Side
I ask God about the rectangles.
And as he sits there fiddling some
rectangular apparatus, he looks up at me
through rectangular glasses and says,
I’m God… and I like rectangles.
At the Circulation Desk with a Co-worker
When in Walks an Old Friend
Talking to you there
from behind the desk,
excitement ran through
out my chest.
After you left,
turning away, I blushed.
You like her, she said
for obvious it was
to the girl next to me
no mystery that
for you still
I had a crush.
